Hi! I’m Mark Holton, youth pastor of Trinity’s dynamic ministry for
our awesome junior and senior high students. This is a place to experience
God, connect with friends, and participate in life-changing events.
Check out the ministries in Genesis, some great
resources to help you grow closer to God, and how you can contact
us for more information. Hope to see you soon!
More about Pastor Mark…
Twenty-one of our teens have taken a challenge to start memorizing scripture using the Topical Memory System put out by the Navigators. We will be doing two verses per week for the rest of the summer. This is sure to change lives in a powerful way! If you want to join us, pick up your Topical Memory System (TMS) at the Youth table in the foyer on Sunday. A $10 donation is suggested to help cover the cost of the T.M.S.
Teens from many different schools in and around the Cedar Valley come together to worship God and hear how He can change their lives. A typical night includes ping-pong, video games, socializing, food, live worship, and a message from God’s Word. We meet in the church basement at 125 Orchard Drive, Cedar Falls, from 6:30 to 8:00. Look for the outside door that says Genesis, which is located in the west wing of the building (sanctuary wing). Once inside, head downstairs.
December we will be going through a video series on the life of Paul. It's very well done and we will have small group time after each video to really help apply it. Check it out!
Teens meet in the church basement from 9:45 to 10:45 (during the regular
Sunday School hour) for food, fun, and learning.
Topics for discussion include the aspects of God’s character, money, dating, witnessing, prayer, and other subjects geared to help teens live Godly lives that will impact their world for Christ. Presently, the Jr. High group will be studying "World View", and the Sr. High group will be studying a book called "The Practice of Godliness" by Jerry Bridges.
These are usually weekend getaways that include fun, spiritual
growth, and sometimes work (gasp!)
Located in the “metropolis” of Floyd, IA, Cedar Springs Wesleyan Camp is always a life-changing time for many. Planned with the needs and interests of teens in mind, our goal is to help them take the next step with God. (See a camp video; it’s awesome!) Camp is usually scheduled for the second and third weeks of June. Check out the Cedar Springs web site, www.cedarspringscamp.com, for more information, to download a registration form, or to register on-line. You may also pick up a registration form at Trinity during regular business hours.
Record numbers expected at Jr. and Sr. High camps this summer!
As a result of two new churches joining forces with us, we will be almost doubling our numbers! Nate Kingsbury from Heritage Wesleyan in Illinois and Jeff Conner from Heartland Vineyard in Cedar Falls, Iowa, have both joined our camp planning team. They are both men of God and will both be bringing many students to camp this summer. Register on-line this year at www.cedarspringscamp.com.
Teen Ministry Team is a group of our high school students
who come together to pray, learn, and plan ministry events that will
impact their peers, their community, and their world. The group meets
every other Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Pastor Mark’s house in Waterloo Teens are asked to fill out an application to become part of this team.
Small groups usually meet on Wednesday nights during youth group
at Trinity, but they also meet in homes throughout the week. Groups are led by adults
who love Jesus and have a passion to invest in the lives of teenagers.
Contact Pastor Mark for more info.
Every year we attend big events for the purpose of challenging our teens to grow closer to God. Planned by our group or in conjunctions with others, these events include ski trips, conferences, guys’ weekends, girls’ weekends, and festivals.
This is usually a summer trip that takes teens out of their comfort
zone to experience God in a whole new way and to share His love and
the Gospel with others. There are many opportunities both
at home and abroad. If you feel God may be calling you to missions,
let us help you answer that call! See our missions
page or contact Pastor Mark for
more information.
These are my favorite books that have helped me grow closer to God
- Pastor Mark
This is the best book that you could ever read if you desire
to know God more and follow Him. If you read one book off this list,
I hope it is the Bible. Start with the book of John. You can find
it in the New Testament. The New Testament starts with the book of
Matthew, then Mark, then Luke, and then John.
